With apologies to Rodgers and Hammerstein - de W2PA
Multiband yagis and Beverage wires
Bright copper ground rods and warm amplifiers
Paddles with magnets instead of with springs
These are a few of my favorite things
Rigs that have dials, and rigs that have mouses
No deed restrictions - antennas on houses
Signals that bounce off the moon sound like pings
These are a few of my favorite things
_ . . . _
When the band’s dead
When the amp blows
When I’m feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don’t feel so bad.
_ . . . _
DXpeditions reply to my call sign
Good propagation and sun spots and grey line
Old Collins Radio emblems with wings
These are a few of my favorite things
Hamfests and contests and on-the-air meetings
Seventy threeses and other weird greetings
Multi-hop long-path the F-layer brings
These are a few of my favorite things
_ . . . _
When the lightning
Hits my tower
When I’m feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don’t feel so bad.
Work ev'ry country
(Nay, entities)
Follow ev'ry new spot
Click the frequencies
Work ev'ry station
On ev'ry band
Search for multipliers
'Til your score is grand
A score that will need
All the points you can log
Night and day on the air
'Til your head’s in a fog
Work ev'ry country
Twice just in case
Don’t take off the headphones
'Til… you’ve… won… first…. place!
The bands are alive
With the sound of signals
A sound they have had
Scarcely hundred years
To most they are noise
But to hams they’re music
A ham wants to grok every one he hears
